"The Forsyte Saga" is a monumental series of diverse works by the English writer John Galsworthy, describing the life of the wealthy Forsyte family. In 1932, Galsworthy received the Nobel Prize in Literature for "the exalted art of storytelling, culminating in The Forsyte Saga."

"It was such a spring day as breathes into a man an ineffable yearning, a painful sweetness, a longing that makes him stand motionless, looking at the leaves or grass, and fling out his arms to embrace he knows not what." ― John Galsworthy, The Forsyte Saga

All works dedicated to different generations of the Forsyte family are grouped into several large cycles. Galsworthy was the first to write the novel "Saving Forsyte" under the pseudonym John Sinjohn. A series of works directly titled "The Forsyte Saga" was released in 1922. Next comes the collection of stories On Forsyte ‘Change. In the preface, the author pointed out that "... in terms of time of action, they (the stories) stand between Saga and Comedy, since without Saga they will not be understood, and the action ends before Comedy begins ...". In the same preface, the author refers to all of his Forsyte writings as the Chronicles of the Forsyte family.

And finally, the last cycle of novels under the general title "End of the Chapter" can be viewed as a kind of spin-off: the Forsytes are mentioned, but the main characters are members of the impoverished noble family Cherrel - distant relatives of the Monts, connected with the Forsytes through the marriage of their son, Michael, to Fleur, daughter of Soames.
