The Amber Telescope is the final book of the trilogy, which tells the story of the adventure of a twelve-year-old girl, Lyra, and immerses her in her bizarre and mysterious world.

As a passionate believer in the democracy of reading, I don't think it's the task of the author of a book to tell the reader what it means.― Philip Pullman

The book is positioned as for children, but an adult can easily read it. The book does not feel childish, the author does not spare the heroes, the story is rather dark. There is an intrigue, you worry about the characters, there is no water, all the text goes to the dynamics of the narrative. "Amber Telescope" is the third part, the continuation of Lyra's adventures. To understand the plot, it is necessary to read the previous two books.

Lyra's father, Lord Asriel, is preparing for a war with the Sovereign. Lyra and Will continue their adventures. At first, there is almost no Lyra in history, although everything that is done according to the plot is connected with her. This is a story about Lear, about her growing up. The third storyline is dedicated to Mary Malone - a woman from our world who fell into another, unknown to her world. There are many storylines, because of this, the narrative constantly switches between characters, which does not allow the dynamics to sag. There is always something interesting going on.

The Amber Telescope is a real adventure. The author filled the ending with interesting elements and characters. Pullman gave his best, fantasy is raging here. Here is a new world with funny animals, angels, the afterlife. A very interesting and touching line with daemons - the "second self" of the characters. We will also learn more about dust, although some questions about it still remain. The final book turned out to be many times more exciting and interesting than the second. The author entertains us, real passions unfold, characters rage, the story develops and eventually comes to a beautiful ending.

There are many events. They are interesting, but fleeting and superficial. The same adventure through the world of the dead - not too original and hasty. And Lyra's motivation (to say goodbye) is truly bewildering. But, if you remember that she is a little girl, then much in her character and decisions is smoothed out. Lyra is probably the least interesting character, who does not develop through the whole story, but changes at the end. Will is a strong, stoic character, a real man who turned from a boy. Lyra's mother, Marisa Coulter, has gone from a cruel and heartless woman to a loving mother. Perhaps her change is the strongest in the book. Despite the fact that we are being prepared for an epic battle, it does not happen. The author, apparently, is not an expert in describing battles and just slowly moved away from this topic, having just told a little something in very general terms. There are angels in history. And they are weird. I would like to highlight Baltamos and Baruch. They are the most useless characters. Angels are ethereal spirits, but they can eat, they can leave traces on the ground, they can slip. But why, if they are spirits, without flesh. And the book contains enough solutions of the author, devoid of logic. This book seemed to me the most childish and naive of the three, and you no longer believe in the danger that threatens children.

This is the end of a wonderful trilogy. The final book contains all the characters. It's interesting to watch the chemistry between Lyra and Will; despite all the difficulties, they continue to be children. Despite the controversial decisions and disadvantages, the entire trilogy can be recommended to both adults and children - everyone will find something in this story. This is a story about friendship, devotion, love, growing up. Children - a must for reading. But the story will delight adults too, make them remember that the world is not a gloomy place in which there is nothing good.
